Edinburgh based photographer Kevin McCollum’s Basement Series is his response to space created in a bank vault.
Edinburgh based photographer Kevin McCollum’s work explores spaces in transition alongside the relationship and response to immediate surroundings. Documenting, reacting to and interpreting familiar as well as new environments through a range of literal and experimental approaches.
Present projects involve photographing large-scale developments, making images as a visual record before progress alters the purpose and aesthetic of these environments. My process involves seeking details and moments of chance stumbled upon. The works are studies of silence and an exploration of isolation, a split second in often mundane surroundings that are beautiful or of visual interest.
