Sebastian Szczepanowski’s series takes us on a journey on public transport, where we sit beside strangers, present in body but out of reach until we arrive.
Sebastian Szczepanowski is a Polish photographer and psychotherapist based in Wrocław. Rooted in street photography, his work explores everyday life through the relationships between people, places and the act of looking.
He is drawn to gestures, reflections and moments when a familiar scene becomes ambiguous. Colour, light and the arrangement of elements within the frame are central to his photographs. His projects develop through sequences, with meaning emerging from the connections, contrasts and pauses between images.
Moving between documentary observation and visual poetry, he explores intimacy, memory, temporary communities and the ways people inhabit shared spaces. He approaches photography as a form of attentive engagement with the world, leaving room for viewers to bring their own experiences and interpretations.
